It should be noted that most Twitterers won't ever see the new homepage, unless they logout of course. But, the new layout isn't for the "everyday Twitter user", it's meant for the non-tweeting crowd, or those that don't see the use for it. Recently, WebProNews featured an article, "The Average American Still Unfamiliar With Twitter", which discussed this very topic. It seems as though Twitter hopes the new homepage will help herd in some of the non-Twitter users.

The Most Important Social Media Strategy for Making Money
WetPaint CEO Talks Business Social Media Use
Earlier this week, WebProNews reported on a study from WetPaint and the Altimeter Group, which indicated that brands who engaged with customers more through social media performed better financially. Judging from our comments, there is a lot of skepticism about the accuracy of this information, but Wetpaint CEO Ben Elowitz shared some further insight with WebProNews about how companies can most effectively utilize social media.
Elowitz also talk a little bit about the ENGAGEMENTdb site, which was announced along with the study. On the site, businesses can match their own social media efforts up alongside those of successful brands.
WebProNews: What do you think is the most important way for a company to utilize social media to have the biggest impact on revenues?

Facebook Now Has 250 Million Users
It was just mere months ago that Facebook announced they had 200 million members worldwide. Well, today they've passed another milestone...250 million people are now using the social networking site.
It should be noted that back in January Facebook only had 150 million users... feels kind of funny saying only 150 million.
Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, updated the company blog with the following:
"So today as we celebrate our 250 millionth user, we are also continuing to develop Facebook to serve as many people in the world in the most effective way possible. This means reaching out to everyone across the world and making products that serve all of you, wherever you are—whether through Facebook Connect, new mobile products and the other things that we are building. We're grateful to have all of you with us, and we look forward to helping connect the next quarter billion people on Facebook."

Twitter to Get a Nobel Peace Prize?
If you haven't yet heard, rumors really are going around about Twitter getting a Nobel Peace Prize. It all started when former Deputy National Security Advisor Mark Pfeiflesuggested it in an interview with Fox News. He said:
"If there's anybody that should possibly get a Nobel Peace Prize in the next time around, it should be the founders of Twitter who delayed the tuning up of their system in order for an amazing amount of tweets to be sent out in the last week or so."
At first, most people scoff at the idea, but is it really that far out in left field? The issue raises mixed opinions. WebProNews spoke with several people regarding the topic and also received mixed responses. Logan Weiler III told us that he didn't believe it was appropriate to award such an honor to "an inanimate object." On the contrary, Tom Godell told us he felt that Twitter "richly deserved" a Nobel Peace Prize.
Do you believe Twitter deserves a Nobel Peace Prize? As society modernizes and technology advances, should we expect more suggestions such as this in the future?

Google’s OS to Challenge Microsoft?
Posted on: July 9th, 2009 for WebPro News
Googlers Sundar Pichai and Linus Upson announced on Wednesday that the company was embarking on a new project: the Google Chrome Operating System. After the Web browser launched last year, many people anticipated a Google OS as the company's next move.
Google Chrome OS is open source and will initially be intended for netbooks; however, the system is said to be equipped to power large desktop systems as well. The three main aspects of the operating system are speed, simplicity, and security. Although Google will construct its own windowing system, the new OS will run on top of the kernel from the open source Linux OS.

YouTube About to Become Higher Quality
Increases Upload Limit, Look for More HD Content
YouTube has doubled the size of what users are now able to upload at a time. Until now, users were only able to upload 1GB, and now they can upload 2GB. This means longer videos with higher resolutions.
YouTube product manager Ryan Junee also points out that users can upload large HD files directly from their cameras. Essentially this means, we will start seeing a lot more quality (at least picture-wise) videos on YouTube.

Jungle Alcho
READ BEFORE WATCHING THE VIDEO:
This is a real video from a French documentary about Africa . You won't understand a word, but the video's a hoot.
There are trees that grow in Africa which, once a year, produce very juicy fruits that contain a large percentage of alcohol.
Because there is a shortage of water, as soon as the fruits are ripe, animals come there to help protect themselves from the heat.
What happens next, you can watch for yourselves.
