Recently Mozilla unleashed Firefox 4 Beta upon the world, and most of us couldn’t be happier. The latest edition, of the world’s second most popular browser, has been in discussion for well over a year now… but the wait is finally over, you can download it here.

Facebook Set To Close Gift Shop

Facebook will be phasing out its virtual gift shop and closing it on August 1, the company announced in a blog post Thursday night.

So what does this mean? The Facebook Blog provides more details. "The gifts you've already received on your Wall will remain visible, and you still will be able to view your sent and received gifts on your gifts page."

Online Subscriptions Driving Magazine Sales

Online subscription will generate 24 percent of new business sales for magazines in 2010, according to a new report from the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA).

The percentage of subscriptions generated from the Internet has increased steadily since 2006:

"Magazine publishers are being smart about leveraging online marketing opportunities to expand their audience, grow readership and increase subscription revenues," said Nina Link, President and CEO, MPA.

Facebook Testing Facial Detection for Tagging in Photos

Facebook is testing some new features for photos. One such feature is a new way of tagging people.

"People love tagging their friends and family in photos, but we've heard that it can be a tedious process. You now can add tags with just a couple of clicks directly from your home page and other sections of the site, using the same face detection technology that cameras have used for years," explains Facebook's new product manager for Photos, Sam Odio. "We're running a limited test of this technology so you may not see it yet."

Google Introduces Real-Time Blogger Stats

Traffic mongers and general-purpose stats hounds now have another compelling reason to use Blogger: last night, a statistics tool called Blogger Stats was introduced, and believe it or not, it in some ways one-ups Google Analytics.

The first advantage of Blogger Stats is that it's integrated, meaning Blogger users won't have to deal with separate products and logins.  The second improvement - and this is where the appeal to certain people lies - is that the stats relayed by the new tool are delivered in "near-real-time."

A post on the official Blogger in Draft blog explained, "You can see which posts are getting the most visits and which sites are sending traffic to your blog right now.  For example, if a reader shares one of your blog posts on Twitter and the post is getting lots of clicks, you will see a traffic increase in Blogger Stats almost instantly, with the particular Tweet mentioning your post being identified as the traffic source."
